An attractive vintage Chronographe Suisse with a beautifuloriginal dial and 18k gold case. Popular during the 1940's - 1970's,Chronographe Suisse once produced large numbers of watches to retailers across Europe, offeringthe prestige of"Swiss made" watches at more affordable prices.
Whilst normally steel or gold plated, they did offer examples such as this as in solid gold. However it is worth pointing out that whilst they may have beenmarketed as "solid gold" the company took measures to keep costs down by using thin cases andhollow lugs. Still, the end result was an attractive line of watches at an excellent price point!
This particular example features a 36mmcase and attractive off-white dial with atworegister chronograph andtwin outer tracks in red and blue. It's powered by a serviced 17 jewel Swiss movement housed under a dust cap.
With similar looking vintagechronographs from brands such as Universal Geneve going for over 2000, as in the past thisChronographe Suisse continues to offertremendous value.
