A stunning collector's example of the Sherpa Diver 600 Super Compressor from the 1960's.

The Sherpa Diver 600 was a follow on from the 1950's Sherpa Seapearl 600, a watch that helped cement Enicar's (still under appreciated) reputation for dive watches. In 1959, the Enicar Sherpa Diver 600 and Enicar Seapearl 600 were included in an evaluation of dive watches by the United States Navy Experimental Diving Unit. The other watches were the Bulova US Navy Submersible Wrist Watch, Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, and the Rolex Oyster Perpetual. Interestingly the goto choice of the divers (when a rotating bezel was not required) was the Seapearl 600.

As for the example we have here, it is in immaculate condition and probably one of the best examples you'll come across. We purchased it from a dedicated Enicar collector who only accepted the best examples into his collection.

Starting with the dial and hands, the dial market marked Enicar Automatic 17 jewels Diver 600 T is in excellent, unrestored condition. There is some light lume burn around the batons but otherwise it remains in mint condition. The hands also remain in good condition including the attractive red lollypop seconds hand.

The 36mm original, unpolished Enicar stainless steel case with the EPSA super compressor case-back remains in good condition for its age. There is some wear to the text on the case back but it remains legible.

The A10 GS Enicar Diver 600 crystal is in close to NOS condition as is the original Enicar bezel which includes the red top and double lume dots.

Finally the Enicar AR1145 17 jewel automatic is running well having recently been serviced.

In conclusion this is anincredible example of the Sherpa Diver 600 Super Compressor from a brand very much seeing a rightful resurgence in popularity. A watch we're sure will find a new home very quickly!
