When it comes to vintage JLC watches, the Memovox is without a doubt one of the most sought-after. The Memovox is a design masterpiece, with its unique twin-crown case design and two-piece dials,that has garnered the attention of an ever-growing number of watch collectors in recent years.

There's somethingincredibly satisfying about hearing (and feeling) the alarm go off on something as elegant as this 18k gold vintage JLC. It's not only infinitely more pleasant than theawfuldefault alarm on the iPhone but also carries out its task in true class.

The history behind the Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox

Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced the Memovox in 1950/51 with the manually wound Calibre 489 movement. The two independent crowns made it possible to wind and set the alarm and timekeeping components of the movement manually. In 1959 they introduced an automatic movement which quickly became the norm for this line.

Of interest, Memovox comes from a combination of two Latin words, Memor (remembering) and Vox (voice), which means "the voice of remembering," making it an excellent name for an alarm clock.

The Memovox offered an excellentblend of innovation and flair, and by the early 1960s, it had established itself as a mainstay in JLC's collection. While the mechanical alarm was employed by a slew of businesses in a variety of designs and executions, the JLC Memovox is widely regarded as the model's gold standard.

Technical & Condition:

Presented in overall excellent condition. The dial remains very clean for the age as do the hands. The case has the occasional mark as would be expected but otherwise remains in good shape. The movement has been serviced and is running well. Finally, the watch has been fitted with a new 3rd party strap.
