A fine example of the Omega Jumbo 2609-14 from circa 1953. This stunning reference 2609-14 sports a huge (for its time) 37.5mm steel case and beautifully aged minimal dial design.
During the 1940s and '50s Omega produced a number of with cases in excess of 37mm. At a time when the average dress watch was 30--34mm, these must-haves seemed ginormous. Today, these oversized vintage Omega's attract a loyal following of collectors and newcomers alike. Adored for their perfect combination of modern size and vintage charm, a jumbo Omega is a must-have for any serious vintage collector.
This particular example benefits from a fantastic overall condition with a clean case still showing its original lines and a dial that remains in excellent overall shape with only a few minor blemishes. Finally, the watch is powered by the reliable manual wind movement and is fitted with a new leather strap and buckle featuring the Omega emblem.
Condition:
- Dial: Excellent overall condition. A small blemish next to the "a" in Omega and a small mark at the base of the dial;
- Case: Overall excellent vintage condition. Previously polished but retains its original lines;
- Movement: Serviced;
- Strap: New third party leather strap;
- Box and Papers: Our own.
Conclusion:
Prices of jumbo Omega watches continue to grow with no signs of slowing. To be honest we're not surprised! They ooze timeless charm in the same way an original E-Type does.
For their price point, no modern watch comes even close to matching a watch like this for its elegance and sophistication. With a number of our regular customers very keen on these, we'd don't suppose it will hang around long either...
