A beautiful example of the Rolex Datejust 1601 featuring a rare "Sigma" dial. Presented in excellent overall condition, this vintage Datejust reference 1601 hails from circa 1973.

This example features a rare and collectible "Sigma" dial as identified by the " T SWISS T " text at the base of the dial. The "" being the lower case Greek letter sigma. When gold prices quintupled between 1970 and 1974, the sigma marks were intended to show the use of gold on the dial and increase its perceived value. Hodinkee did a fascinating write-up on the subject ofwhich we'd highly recommend.

Overall this is an excellent example of the timeless Rolex Datejust 1601. The added benefit of the Sigma dial makes this all the more collectible, especially at a time when vintage Datejusts are seeing record levels of demand! Priced as it is we don't expect this to hang around for long!
